Opening the Door: Bringing the Outdoors to Everyone and Everyone to the Outdoors

Yesterday, I made the second boldest decision of my life: to step into God’s purpose for me by launching Small Mountain Fishing & Outdoors. My mission is simple: bring the great outdoors to everyone and everyone to the great outdoors by breaking down barriers to entry. These barriers—financial hardship, underserved communities, and the absence of father-figures and mentors to introduce the joys of nature—are ones I know intimately.

Growing up in poverty for most of my childhood with a complex relationship with my father, who was absent for much of my life, I faced these challenges firsthand. Yet, fishing, which he shared with me before I could even walk, became a cherished bond, a staple of his memory, and a source of solace after his passing in 2013.

This decision meant walking away from the highest-paying job I’ve ever had, with its guaranteed paycheck every two weeks. While I’m nervous, my faith is unwavering. I earnestly believe this is God’s calling for me, and I trust He will provide the opportunities and connections to make this venture a success, reaching homes across the country with the transformative power of the outdoors.

Small Mountain Fishing & Outdoors is built on offering high-quality, budget-friendly, fishing and outdoors gear from reputable brands, paired with programs to introduce youth, beginners, and underserved groups to fishing and nature. My approach is rooted in authenticity, accessibility, and impact—curating affordable products that inspire confidence and creating experiences that foster a love for the outdoors, especially for those who’ve never had the chance to cast a line.

I’m pouring my heart and soul into this mission, and I need your support to get Small Mountain Fishing & Outdoors off the ground. Please keep me in your prayers as I embark on this journey, and if you share my passion for making the outdoors inclusive, I’d love to connect. Whether it’s advice, partnerships, or simply spreading the word, your support will help build a community where everyone can experience the peace and joy of fishing, just as I did with my father’s old rod in hand.

Thank you for believing in this vision. Here’s to casting lines and breaking barriers together!
